Here&#8217;s everything you need to know about it,&#8221; Vahedian began in her video.<\/p>\n<p>As a wedding photographer, she has valuable insight into the topic. And, of course, elopements often feature no guests at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just your closest friends and family where you celebrate with them without having a giant wedding at a normal venue,&#8221; Vahedian said of micro-weddings. &#8220;The alternative to a normal venue would be something like a bed and breakfast, national park, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/news\/bride-groom-pull-together-backyard-wedding-one-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">or someone&#8217;s backyard<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"media media--type-image media--view-mode-default\"> <span class=\"field field--name-field-media-image field--type-image field--label-hidden field__item\"> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/espacestudio.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Photographer-Says-Weddings-Will-Go-Extinct-By-2030-Two.png?resize=850%2C850&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"850\" height=\"850\" alt=\"Backyard micro-wedding\" title=\"Photographer Claims Weddings Will Go Extinct By 2030\" class=\"img-fluid\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\"\/><\/span> <span class=\"field field--name-field-credit field--type-string field--label-hidden field__item\">Ground Picture | Shutterstock<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the size of weddings decreasing, thankfully, so does the price \u2014 a major selling point for these smaller celebrations. &#8220;You&#8217;re gonna save a butt-ton of money,&#8221; Vahedian joked.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Many_couples_have_gone_into_debt_to_afford_their_wedding\"><\/span>Many couples have gone into debt to afford their wedding.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/money.usnews.com\/loans\/personal-loans\/articles\/2024-wedding-debt-survey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. News conducted a nationwide survey<\/a> of 1,205 Americans who got married in the past year and held a wedding ceremony and reception. They found that over half of newlyweds, 56%, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/entertainment\/bride-and-groom-plan-lavish-wedding-they-cant-afford-beg-guests-donate-money-labor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took on debt to pay for their wedding<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among those who borrowed money \u2014 from credit cards, bank loans, and family members \u2014 48% said they weren&#8217;t expecting to go into debt when they initially planned their wedding, and 42% regret going into debt over wedding expenses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body-related-links\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/self\/bride-expects-bridesmaid-take-out-loan-pay-wedding-activities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bride Expects Her Bridesmaid To Take Out A $20K Loan To Pay For The Wedding Activities \u2014 \u2018It\u2019s Once In A Lifetime, Find A Way\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Big, extravagant weddings were the biggest culprit of all. Newlyweds who had weddings with more than 150 guests were twice as likely to go into debt to pay for it than those who had small weddings, at 65% and 32%, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s not just the bride and groom who feel the pressure of how costly weddings are, but the guests as well. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lendingtree.com\/credit-cards\/study\/expensive-weddings\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In a survey conducted by LendingTree<\/a>, wedding guests admitted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/self\/bridesmaid-mad-friend-after-spending-1200-dollars-wedding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it hurt their pockets to attend<\/a> a ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 54% of Americans who\u2019ve attended a wedding in the past five years, 31% have taken on debt to do so, according to their survey of over 2,000 Americans.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Vahedian_predicts_that_people_will_choose_to_have_smaller_weddings_and_big_receptions_later\"><\/span>Vahedian predicts that people will choose to have smaller weddings and big receptions later.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>She claimed that with the cost of weddings as high as they are, many couples will choose to forgo a large ceremony and elope in a &#8220;gorgeous location&#8221; with only their closest friends and family instead.<\/p>\n<p>However, that doesn&#8217;t mean they won&#8217;t celebrate with everyone else.
