\nGeorgia and Alex first caught each other\u2019s eye while taking an art<\/a> class at the University of Florence in September 2017. \u201cIt was definitely love at first sight for both of us,\u201d the couple shares. Two years later, the duo ventured over to Corfu Island, Greece for a relaxing getaway<\/a>. One must-see destination on their agenda was the Old Fortress of Corfu. While they were inside admiring the panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the town of Corfu, Alex got down on one knee<\/a>. \u201cFrom that moment, we knew our fairytale had begun,\u201d they reflect.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nWith their engagement<\/a> in Greece and Alex\u2019s Greek heritage, the pair knew they wanted to tie the knot in Athens. They couldn\u2019t wait to host their dream day, but a global pandemic delayed the process. \u201cPlanning a destination wedding<\/a> in the years of Covid was definitely a big emotional challenge at times,\u201d Georgia admits. Due to travel restrictions, the couple had to make all of their decisions overseas. Thankfully, with the help of Mariliza Grammenou of Stefanotis Weddings<\/a> and their vendor team, the planning stages weren\u2019t just manageable but also enjoyable. \u201cThey made our wedding dream vision possible and the whole experience such a breeze,\u201d the couple says.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nAfter two years of planning, Georgia and Alex finally swapped vows in front of 25 friends and family members on June 12, 2021 at The Queen\u2019s Tower Estate<\/a> in Athens. \u201cI wanted it to be the most beautiful day in my life, and thankfully, reality exceeded all expectations,\u201d the bride exclaims. \nThe couple\u2019s vision for their nuptials was old Hollywood<\/a> glamour with a modern flair. \u201cWe designed a wedding day with an elegant aesthetic that felt like a natural extension of the surrounding landscape,\u201d the bride explains. To introduce this theme, the duo created an ornate invitation suite<\/a> with gold script and an illustration of their royal venue. They also used their invitations to establish a color palette<\/a> of white, ivory, and green with pops of yellow and gold.\n<\/p>\n

\nWhen Georgia first came across Vassilis Zoulias’s designs<\/a> while wedding dress shopping, she had a hard time choosing just one look. The solution? Wear two different outfits! During the duo\u2019s pre-wedding party and walk around the gardens<\/a>, the bride sported a strapless jumpsuit<\/a> with a sweetheart neckline and an overskirt from the designer. \u201cI wanted to find a gown that could combine old school femininity and old Hollywood glamour with a modern<\/a> creation that could be a fashion statement,\u201d she says. \u201cThat was our vision, and it was embodied beautifully in his designs.\u201d To complete her attire, the bride accessorized with a silk top hat, diamond earrings<\/a>, and a diamond tennis bracelet.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nAfter spending the morning drinking whiskey and smoking cigars with his groomsmen<\/a>, Alex changed into a tailored navy blazer<\/a> with khaki pants, a striped dress shirt, a silk tie, and a fashionable fedora<\/a> for his morning stroll with Georgia. \u201cAlex\u2019s style is contemporary and classic, so he wanted something elegant yet effortless,\u201d the bride shares.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nAs the couple drove to their venue in a rented vintage convertible<\/a>, Georgia\u2019s bouquet of white orchids<\/a> and greenery swayed in the wind. \u201cIn order to accentuate my silhouette, we selected a bridal bouquet that revealed a mixture of femininity and opulence,\u201d the bride describes of her bouquet<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\nFor Georgia\u2019s beauty look, she wore her hair down<\/a> in loose waves and embraced a glowing complexion<\/a> with a subtle smokey eye. \u201cThe main thing I had in mind was that I wanted an elegant and timeless look,\u201d Georgia illuminates. \u201cI wanted something classic<\/a> but cool.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI also wore gorgeous bright yellow pumps by Manolo Blahnik<\/a> for a pop of color and that final exquisite touch to coordinate with our color palette,\u201d Georgia illustrates. The bride also tapped Manolo Blahnik<\/a> because she wanted to infuse her Spanish heritage into her wedding wardrobe.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nGeorgia and Alex decided to get married at The Queen\u2019s Tower Estate<\/a>, the royal estate where Queen Amalia and King Otto used to live. \u201cWe were looking for something unique, something that could be the perfect scenery for our fairytale wedding,\u201d they reveal. \u201cAnd, what is better than the gardens<\/a> of a royal villa?\u201d The neo-gothic architecture and manicured lawns supported their aesthetic and provided gorgeous photo<\/a> ops.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nEven Georgia\u2019s bridesmaids donned two different outfits. During the pre-ceremony festivities, they wore yellow silk dresses<\/a> with cowl necks and gold strappy heels, and carried smaller versions of the bride\u2019s bouquet. For the main event, the girls changed into blush gowns<\/a> in various styles.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nAlex enlisted a wardrobe stylist<\/a> to piece together his groomsmen\u2019s looks. \u201cAlex wanted his groomsmen<\/a> to feel special and pampered and to take extra care of their outfits,\u201d Georgia mentions. \u201cHe collaborated with the designer and helped them all look exceptionally sharp and match our wedding theme with their stylish tailor-made suits<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nThe twosome exchanged vows on an elevated altar<\/a>, surrounded by white floral arrangements planted in stone urns and framed by the tower\u2019s stately arch. For a garden-fresh feel, yellow and white roses<\/a>, orchids, peonies, and delphiniums lined the aisle<\/a>. \u201cThe blooms appeared as if they were growing beside the rows of chairs,\u201d Georgia notes. Their 25 guests watched the ceremony from gold chairs<\/a> adorned with plush yellow pillows. \u201cThe organic shape and colors of the ceremony site made it perfect for our dream summer wedding<\/a> and was a beautiful complement to the surrounding landscape and architecture of the tower and gardens<\/a>,\u201d Georgia summarizes.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nThe bride\u2019s stepfather escorted Georgia down the aisle<\/a> to meet her groom. \u201cMy stepdad has been the strongest support system throughout most of my life,\u201d she shares.\n<\/p>\n

\nFor the main event, the bride changed into a strapless A-line Vassilis Zoulias<\/a> gown with an oversized bow<\/a> in the back, which she describes as \u201can aristocratic style that matched completely with my personality<\/a> and our wedding concept.\u201d Meanwhile, Alex looked dapper in a white double-breasted suit with black shoes and a black bow tie<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\nOne of the couple\u2019s close friends officiated the ceremony, and they asked him to integrate a few Greek traditions<\/a>. In addition to writing their own vows, the duo personalized their ceremony by selecting a special reading\u2014the bride\u2019s favorite Greek poem called \u201cIthaka.\u201d To Georgia, the poem<\/a> is meaningful because it \u201cspeaks of the importance of enjoying the journey and not only longing for the final destination<\/a>, which is the perfect metaphor for the purpose in life, one which we never stop pursuing.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nAfter sharing their first kiss<\/a> as newlyweds, the pair walked back up the aisle while basking in the success of their ceremony, all thanks to their planner<\/a>, Mariliza. \u201cWorking with our planner and her team was the best decision my husband and I made in regard to planning our destination wedding<\/a>,\u201d Georgia gushes. \u201cFrom the first communication we had with Mariliza, she made us feel at home, and she gave us the confidence that she will be able to deliver up to our expectations.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nGeorgia recruited a Greek jeweler to custom-make her round-cut<\/a> diamond engagement ring and matching wedding band<\/a>. To highlight her dazzling jewels, she decided to forgo nail polish.\n<\/p>\n

\nTo give their friends and family a taste of authentic Greek<\/a> cuisine, they served a Mediterranean menu<\/a>. A large wooden table boasted a wide array of appetizers. After filling up on finger food, guests enjoyed an intimate seated dinner<\/a>. For the entr\u00e9e, everyone selected either tenderloin smothered in Champagne sauce or Milokopi fish filet coated in lemon sauce.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\nThe food didn\u2019t stop there! To satisfy their sweet tooth, guests nibbled on French pastries from the dessert spread<\/a>. Madeleines, macarons<\/a>, religieuse (two choux buns filled with pastry cream and topped with chocolate ganache), and baba au rhum (rum cake soaked in syrup) abounded.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Once the pair saw the setup, they marveled at the attention to detail and the way every element reflected their relationship<\/a> and vision. \u201cThrough our planning process, we were given the chance to be creative as well, to understand our common<\/a> identity as a couple, and find a way to portray this to the world,\u201d Georgia explains.\n<\/p>\n
