A THRIFTY couple managed to get married AND buy a house within the same month – after spending just \u20ac7,000 on their dream wedding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lauren Kennedy and fiance Adam Kennedy got engaged in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin<\/a> in November 2019 and started to plan their wedding straight away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lauren decorated the venue herself, along with help from family and friends<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The average cost of an Irish wedding<\/a> is now approximately \u20ac30,000 but Lauren had no intention of spending that amount on her dream day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI always knew I wanted a small wedding, so we didn’t want to have a big extravagant wedding. I don’t really like to be the centre of attention so I just wanted close family and friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both agreed we didn’t want to get into any debt for one day, because we just couldn’t justify it and there were other things we wanted to spend our money on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had just bought a house the month before our wedding and we wanted to do that up.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at Glenariff Forest Park in July 2021, with 60 guests.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Incredibly, the savvy pair managed to shave off approximately \u20ac17,000 from their wedding day costs by opting for a small restaurant wedding, rather than a fancy hotel reception.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Lauren, from Belfast<\/a>, said: \u201cMy husband and I fell in love with the stunning surroundings of the Glenariff Forest Park in Northern Ireland<\/a> and knew we wanted to get married there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

After some research, she found a quaint restaurant in Forest Park which cost just \u20ac1500 to rent for the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
