width=\"696\" height=\"505\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/best-high-street-wedding-dresses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wedding fashion<\/a> from the 80s will likely have you thinking about frou-frou sleeves and taffeta layers, the decade had a lot more to offer than Princess Diana\u2019s iconic gown \u2013 the 80s have had a seriously modern glow up.<\/p>\n<p>The catwalk at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week was full of puff sleeve designs, and Google searches for the statement piece have grown by 39% year on year. \u2018While 90s styling is still big news, the previous decade set the tone for some of the most head-turning bridal styles in Barcelona,\u2019 says Anna-Marie DeSouza, Editor at Bridal Buyer.<\/p>\n<p>Marie says: \u2018The 80s are back, and with a level of finesse that makes the dramatic detailing have an elegant flow. Viktor &amp; Rolf had lots of texture and movement in their new collection, with some rah-rah skirt inspired detailing on their shorter styles.\u2019 It\u2019s not just the puff sleeve that\u2019s back with a bang, as satin bows are also having another moment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203986\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-203986\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-203986\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/espacestudio.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1654799978_1_the-biggest-wedding-trends-for-20222023-YOU-Magazine.jpg?resize=600%2C900&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"wedding trends\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\"  \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-203986\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Viktor &amp; Rolf<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Viktor &amp; Rolf chose to give lots of their models delicate veils that only just covered the face, complete with a bow on top, showing that there are plenty of ways \u2013 from over the top to the simple cherry on top \u2013 to include a bow in your bridal look in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>At the opposite end of the fashion spectrum, bridal suits are also on the way up. As we emerge from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/how-to-save-on-your-wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a period where weddings were pared back and scaled down<\/a>, it seems the desire to keep your wedding day look sleek and chic is sticking around, as searches for \u2018wedding suits for women\u2019 have rocketed by 125%.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203992\" create wedding parties that reflect their actual friendship groups, and searches for \u2018man of honour\u2019 hit 1,000 a month in 2022 with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bridesmates\u2019, \u2018wedding squad\u2019 and \u2018I do crew\u2019 are just some of the terms couples are adopting as inclusive names for their wedding party.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sustainable_services\"><\/span><strong>Sustainable services<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Sustainability continues to be part of the conversation around weddings, as the<a href=\"https:\/\/streaklinks.com\/BEBYhBNkZANXaLToHQjo0JlT\/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hitched.co.uk%2Fwedding-planning%2Forganising-and-planning%2Faverage-uk-wedding%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> National Wedding Survey<\/a> revealed that more than a fifth of couples consider sustainability as part of their wedding planning.<\/p>\n<p>Zoe Burke, editor of <a href=\"http:\/\/hitched.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hitched.co.uk<\/a> says : \u2018This is reiterated in trends \u2013 there\u2019s no escaping the increasing urgency around the climate crisis, and couples are applying more thought to their wedding choices, with eco-friendly favours, locally sourced food and flowers and upcycling their accessories \u2013 Granny\u2019s pearls are not just your \u2018something borrowed\u2019 anymore, they\u2019re an environmental statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Princess Beatrice put this on the map when she revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/princess-beatrice-wedding-shoes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she\u2019d had a micro-wedding in the pandemic<\/a> and chose to wear a dress belonging to the Queen for her big day.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Searches for \u2018wedding dress hire\u2019 have risen 132% as couples look for more economical ways to plan a wedding. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/wedding-dress-rental\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renting a wedding dress<\/a> is a savvy way for a bride to get their hands on a gown that may have previously been beyond their budget.<\/p>\n<p>Rosie Rowley Poole of <a href=\"https:\/\/rowleyhesselballe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rowley Hesselballe<\/a> bridalwear explains: \u2018A lot of brides <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/wedding-spending-regrets-advice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">want to have a more sustainable approach to their wedding day<\/a> outfit, for many brides their wedding day dress never leaves their closet after their big day, and with the new generation of brides increasingly concerned with wastefulness, renting is a great solution to this.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The eco-elements extend beyond wedding outfits, with interest in eco-friendly wedding favours soaring by 1,500% in the last year, as nearly three quarters of couples admitted they wanted to still give a traditional wedding favour to their guests, but didn\u2019t want to contribute to landfill by giving something that would end up in the bin.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-203990\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/espacestudio.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1654799978_27_the-biggest-wedding-trends-for-20222023-YOU-Magazine.jpg?resize=696%2C505&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"wedding trends\" width=\"696\" height=\"505\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Consider thank you cards made from cardboard and seeds, so guests can plant them in their gardens and have a beautiful reminder of your wedding,\u2019 suggests Hattie Creese of events company Marble Private. \u2018Even simply avoiding paper in this way can help the environment massively.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Another way couples are combating waste is by sharing food and favours after the event, through <a href=\"https:\/\/olioex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apps like Olio<\/a>, where any surplus produce is shared with the local community rather than being thrown away.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_trends_for_2023\"><\/span><strong>New trends for 2023<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>While there are a number of new traditions on the horizon, none is more relatable than the update to the first dance as half of couples revealing to Hitched that they are nervous about the first dance, and more than a fifth admitting they are \u2018dreading it\u2019! What\u2019s more, more than one in ten couples are set to skip the ritual altogether in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-203987\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/espacestudio.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1654799978_231_the-biggest-wedding-trends-for-20222023-YOU-Magazine.jpg?resize=696%2C505&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"wedding trends\" width=\"696\" height=\"505\"  \/>Newlyweds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.you.co.uk\/kourtney-kardashian-fan-11-primark-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kourtney Kardashian<\/a> and Travis Barker are the latest celeb couple to put elopements back in the spotlight. Since their surprise Vegas ceremony in April, searches for \u2018destination weddings\u2019 and \u2018elopements\u2019 have soared, with interest in private ceremonies up more than 200% and 128.7k searches for elopements globally in May 2022 alone.<\/p>\n<p>Zoe Burke says: \u2018I\u2019m so happy to see some new traditions being introduced as the latest generation of couples begin to tie the knot.
