\n North Shields cultural venue\u00a0The Exchange 1856 has been inundated with enquiries for weddings after completing a programme of renovations.\n<\/p>\n
\n The\u00a0Victorian building, which is located on Howard Street at the heart of the Cultural Quarter, is one of North Tyneside\u2019s\u00a0architectural landmarks and has just undergone a seven-figure transformation.\n<\/p>\n
\n Some people may find the venue familiar, with The Exchange name being connected to the theatre and events space.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n Dozens of couples looking to tie the knot have been contacting The Exchange 1856 to find out about options to hold weddings at the venue with 16 couples already reserving dates for their special day.\n<\/p>\n \n The first wedding booked will take place in February 2024.\n<\/p>\n \n During the renovation, every area of The Exchange 1856 has been updated and improved to create a spectacular and glamorous interior.\n<\/p>\n \n Original architectural features such as fireplaces, ornate architraves and stained-glass windows have been restored to their former glory and complemented with\u00a0fixtures and fittings, new flooring, and panelling,\u00a0in-keeping with the overall character of the building.\n<\/p>\n \n A light-filled loft space at the very top of the building has been renovated with weddings and special occasions in mind.\n<\/p>\n \n As well as outstanding sea views, this area features\u00a0arched beams and vaulted ceilings and can hold around 100 guests.\n<\/p>\n \n \n There is also a range of newly refurbished event spaces for that special wedding breakfast – from intimate VIP rooms to the auditorium for larger parties.\n<\/p>\n \n The historic surroundings and arched entranceway to The Exchange 1856 provide the picture-perfect backdrop for wedding photography.\n<\/p>\n \n Colette Malik, one of three wedding coordinators employed by The Exchange 1856, said: \u201cThis\u00a0beautiful Victorian building is brimming with atmosphere and offers a unique space to celebrate your special day.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cEveryone who has visited The Exchange 1856 as a potential wedding venue has booked it, which is a testament to the outstanding space we\u2019ve created here.\n<\/p>\n \n “People are absolutely wowed from the minute they come through the arched entranceway into the building \u2013 it\u2019s just so unexpected to see the level of detail and beautiful, glamorous finish.\n<\/p>\n \n She added: \u201cThe Exchange 1856 is in the heart of the town right next to all the transport links, but it feels like you\u2019re in another world \u2013 a private space that exudes luxury.\n<\/p>\n \n “Weddings have traditionally been held in big country houses or barns, but trends are now moving towards more unique, glamorous spaces.
