A Cornish wedding venue has been voted among the most ‘wacky’ places to get hitched in the UK. Frieda And The Moon in An Skiber Goth, Looe<\/a>, has been chosen as one of five must-see micro wedding venues by UK wedding planning destination Hitched. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In its annual National Wedding Survey<\/u> <\/a> Hitched revealed a growing interest in tiny, exclusive, and unusual wedding venues, especially as people aim to keep costs down and enjoy something different. <\/p>\n

It comes as the average cost of a wedding in the UK has risen to more than \u00a320,000. Zoe Burke, leading wedding expert and editor of Hitched.co.uk<\/a> said the cost of living crisis and increasing expenses of having a big family affair has led many couples to search for smaller and quirkier venues. <\/p>\n

She said<\/span> online searches for the term \u201cmicro wedding\u201d are at a five-year high, surging a whopping 669 per cent year on year globally to just more than 12,000 searches per month. In the UK, searches have increased by 11 per cent year on year as couples make big changes to their guest lists by reducing them in size to cut overall costs, while giving their wedding days a more intimate feel. <\/p>\n

Ms Burke said: “Our latest data shows that guest experience and cost are the two most important factors couples consider when wedding planning. One way of making sure your wedding is one your guests will remember having a gorgeous time because they got to spend so much of it celebrating with you, is by having a micro wedding.<\/p>\n

“Registry offices are the go-to solution for couples looking to save money by having a smaller wedding, as demonstrated by the more than 1-in-10 newlyweds last year choosing this option for their big days, but there are also hundreds of licenced wedding venues across the UK that cater to both an intimate guest list, and tighter purse strings. <\/p>\n
