The happy couple that walked into the Vancouver council chamber at city hall last Friday afternoon wasn\u2019t there to talk politics.<\/p>\n
Their attire indicated otherwise.<\/p>\n
James Watson was dressed in a sharp blue suit.<\/p>\n
Caroline Cheah, clutching a bouquet of white flowers, was wearing an elegant white dress.<\/p>\n
They were there to get married.<\/p>\n
With Cheah\u2019s parents and sister as a witness, the couple exchanged vows before marriage commissioner Diane Brown in what was a simple ceremony that was over well within the allotted half-hour time slot.<\/p>\n
Some applause, some photographs \u2014 including one in Mayor Ken Sim\u2019s chair \u2014 and a quick ring of the chamber\u2019s ship bell, and they were done.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re reasonably new to Canada and the city, so we picked an iconic venue, which is quite a nice place to get married,\u201d said Watson, standing in the lobby with his bride after the ceremony.<\/p>\n
