House wrecked in fire in Burntwood
Smoke was seen billowing from the roof of a Staffordshire bungalow after a fire broke out. Firefighters were called to the property in Lawnswood Avenue, Burntwood, at 12.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, June 21, to reports that a fire had broken out.
Crews from Lichfield, Cannock, Burton and appliances from West Midlands Fire Service were all called to the scene and the residents were evacuated from the house on the arrival of the firefighters.
No one has been reported to have been injured in the fire. The cause of the blaze has not yet been established and an investigation is ongoing.

A video from the scene has been shared on social media by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service which shows the smoke coming from the roof as they work to extinguish it. A picture from after it was put out shows that part of the roof has been completely destroyed.
Station manager Stuart Ruckledge, who attended the incident, said: “I would like to commend the staff within the premises for their fast-thinking and efficient decision making which has significantly de-escalated the incident. Crews worked diligently to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading into the surrounding residential areas.”
The fire was successfully extinguished by 1.30pm, a spokesman for the fire service added.
