At Nūdo, we aren’t just a kick ass team of wedding planners, caterers and event designers, we also happen to run four of Melbourne’s best wedding venues, being The Button Factory, Chapel 1885, The Wool Mill and Gather & Tailor. Our venues range from traditional wedding venues through to outdoor garden or small spaces to house your micro wedding.

Our catering team manage approx 400 events each year between our four event venues & external catering jobs.  Weddings are our bread & butter, and our team is incredibly customer-focused, aiming to provide an exceptional. Our venues include:

  • The Woolmill – Brunswick East.
  • Twotonmax – North Melbourne.
  • Gather & Tailor – West Melbourne.
  • The Ivory – Elsternwick. (also our prep kitchen)

About the role

Our team is growing! We are looking for a number of passionate team members to support the day to day operations of our kitchens and deliver service at events. This role will primarily work out of our Elsternwick kitchen, however may also be required to service our Northside venues from time to time. This role is required to work on a rotating roster that includes week days, nights, weekends and public holidays. Sponsorship is available, however the candidate must already be in Australia to apply. Some of the responsibilities include: 

    • Assisting the Head Chef & Sous Chef with food prep during the week;
    • Running the onsite kitchen at a wedding or event as the Chef in Charge, including, ensuring the food packed into the vehicle is carefully checked, 
      driving to the event from the prep kitchen, loading & unloading the vehicle to set up in venues kitchen, managing a small team of kitchen hands & chefs to ensure food service at the event is perfect, liaising with front of house during the event, maintaining clean, safe and orderly workspaces; 
    • Hygiene and food safety of the highest level in accordance with food safety guidelines, policies and procedures.

The salary range for this role is between $65,000 – $75,000 + super, depending on experience.

 

Skills, experience & requirements/qualifications 

 

    • 5+ years relevant experience as a CDP or Junior Sous Chef
    • Ability to lead teams as the Chef in Charge onsite at a wedding or event 
    • Passionate about catering and producing quality food
    • Happy to work hard & get your hands dirty when needed
    • Ability to work as a part of a team with excellent communication skills
    • You must be fully vaccinated (with two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine) or have a genuine medical exemption
    • Valid Victorian Drivers licence and be comfortable to drive a van or small truck
    • Some manual handling required to unload food from trucks/vans
    • Availability to work a rotating roster that includes week days, nights, weekends and public holidays (essential)
    • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (essential)
    • Food Safety trained (desired)
    • Certificate or Diploma in event/hotel management (desired)
